Spinal Fusion

Spinal fusion is a surgical procedure performed to permanently join two or more vertebrae, eliminating abnormal movement between them and improving spinal stability. It is commonly recommended for conditions such as degenerative disc disease, spinal instability, spondylolisthesis, scoliosis, spinal fractures, spinal deformities, and certain spinal tumors or infections. During the procedure, the surgeon places a bone graft between the affected vertebrae. Metal screws, rods, or plates are often used to hold the spine in the correct position while the bones gradually fuse together. Spinal fusion may be performed using open, minimally invasive, or robotic-assisted techniques, depending on the patient's condition. The primary goal of spinal fusion is to relieve pain, stabilize the spine, protect the nerves, and improve mobility and quality of life.
