Piles Surgery

Before piles surgery, patients are evaluated through physical examination and sometimes diagnostic tests such as proctoscopy or colonoscopy to assess the severity of hemorrhoids. Doctors review the patient’s medical history, dietary habits, and bowel patterns. Patients are advised to follow preoperative instructions such as fasting before the procedure and adjusting medications if required. On the day of surgery, the patient is given anesthesia depending on the type of procedure. In traditional hemorrhoidectomy, the surgeon removes the swollen hemorrhoidal tissue using surgical instruments. In minimally invasive procedures such as laser or stapler surgery, advanced techniques are used to shrink or remove hemorrhoids with minimal damage to surrounding tissues. These methods result in less bleeding and faster recovery. The procedure typically takes 20 to 60 minutes and is usually performed as a day-care surgery.

After piles surgery, patients are monitored for a few hours before discharge. Mild pain or discomfort may occur, especially during bowel movements, but this is manageable with medication. Patients are advised to maintain proper hygiene, follow a high-fiber diet, and stay hydrated to prevent constipation. Stool softeners may be prescribed to ease bowel movements. Most patients can resume normal activities within a few days. Follow-up visits are scheduled to ensure proper healing and to prevent recurrence.
