Cardiac Catheterization

Cardiac catheterization is a minimally invasive medical procedure used to diagnose and treat certain heart conditions. It involves inserting a thin, flexible tube called a catheter into a blood vessel, usually through the wrist or groin—and guiding it to the heart. Once the catheter reaches the heart, doctors can perform diagnostic tests, measure pressure inside heart chambers, evaluate blood flow, and identify blockages in coronary arteries.

Your Care Journey

We believe in complete transparency. Here is what you can expect at every step of your procedural journey with our specialized medical team.

Before Surgery

Before cardiac catheterization, patients undergo a detailed medical evaluation to ensure they are fit for the procedure. This typically includes blood tests, ECG, and imaging studies such as echocardiography. Patients are usually instructed to fast for several hours before the procedure.

Day of Surgery

Local anaesthesia is administered at the insertion site. A catheter is inserted into a blood vessel and carefully guided toward the heart using imaging techniques. Once in position, contrast dye may be injected to make the coronary arteries visible on X-ray images.

Post Surgery

The catheter is removed, and pressure is applied to the insertion site to prevent bleeding. Patients are moved to a recovery area where vital signs are closely monitored. Hydration is encouraged to help flush the contrast dye from the body. Most patients are discharged within 24 hours.
